Things never seem to work out…but they do…

Hello, again. Yes, I’m still alive. Yes, byTisha is still important to me. As I’m typing this, I’m laying on an airbed in my living room. I should be sleeping in my own bed, in my room, but you’ll find out why I’m not. Just keep reading. This post will be longer than most.

Everything that could’ve gone wrong during this transition, did.

Sunday morning, August 9, my older cousin and I left Orlando. The drive to Columbus was supposed to take about 14 hours. We were doing great on time, at one point our ETA was 3 am. So we stopped a couple times for food, gas and sleep. I didn’t realize how exhausting the drive would be, but thank God we made it safely. Finally around 7 am Monday morning, we made it to Ohio! The sun was coming up, and the view was beautiful! Two hours later, we arrived at my apartment, got the key and tried to open my door. This is when the shit show began.

The keys to my apartment, that were made five minutes ago, didn’t work. Why?Because the wrong master was used. Twenty minutes later, with a new set of keys, I finally walked into my new apartment. It was everything that I expected. My cousin and I unpacked the car, then problem number two surfaced. I shipped two palettes from Orlando on August 4. It was supposed to arrive at my door the day I got to Columbus, Monday afternoon. I called the location in Ohio, and they told me ?Ma’am, we don’t have anything for you here, call our other location.” Surprisingly I didn’t panic, I called the other location and hoped for the best. After 10 more calls to the locations in Orlando, Ohio and Georgia, I found out my package wasn’t shipped. It was still in Orlando, and I was lied to.

After we got to the bottom of everything, both shipments were sent out and I was told to expect a Friday delivery. For the entire week, I had to make do with what I had- clothes, my laptop and wifi. My cousin and I bought everything else that we needed to make this week less depressing. Fast-forward to Friday, I spoke to the delivery company and they told me that I should expect a delivery Monday morning. To say I was pissed off would be an understatement. Around 3pm I get a knock on the door. it was the delivery company! I wanted to hug this man, but I kept calm lol. My shipment was unloaded and I had to carry each box upstairs, by myself because my cousin left on Tuesday. 417 pounds and 30 mins later, everything was inside the apartment.

I could go into more details about how emotional this move has been. The stress has been attributed to everything that went wrong, as opposed to missing my family. It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m 1,000 miles away from home; that I’m starting law school in a little over a week. Everything seems to be happening so fast. I’m so thankful for all that I’ve accomplished so far. I’m so blessed to have such amazing family and friends. Without them, I would be lost; I would be an emotional wreck.

My apartment is still a work in progress. Hopefully next week I’ll have an updated post with good news. Fingers cross and prayers up.

Thanks for reading, come back soon. The posts will be waiting for you!
