My first semester of law school

For those of you that don’t know, I am a first year law student. I don’t post about it too much because law school already takes up so much of my time ,I wanted my blog to be more light-hearted and fun.

I’m not exactly sure what I want this post to be about, I’m just going to type. Hopefully it all makes sense.

People can tell you that law school is OK, you can get through it, but no one can really prepare you for what its really like. You honestly just have to experience it for yourself. Last semester was terrifying, mostly because I didn’t know what to expect. I did what “everyone wish they would’ve done”

-“Make sure you study”- so I did, 6 days a week I was in the library.

-“Don’t procrastinate”- so I “tried” not to lol.

-“Do your best”-  I did…but why do I feel horrible? It makes no sense.

I had a great first semester. But one thing I noticed after grades were released- I started doubting myself. Instead of celebrating the fact that I did really well, I was being negative for absolutely no reason. I earned two high A’s. But all I could think about were the classes I didn’t earn A’s in. Lawtoyatalks hit the nail right on the head with her last post. Law school makes you forget about the wins and everything else automatically becomes a loss, even when its far from it. Moral of the story, try to stay true to yourself. No matter what your grades are your family and friends will still be bragging about you. 😉 You will find a job for the summer and everything will work out the way its supposed to. I appreciate all the stories the 2L’s and 3L’s told me last year. Now that I have a semester under my belt, I completely understand where they were coming from.

ALSO, this is only the first semester. There’s more time to improve and also to f*** up (in my situation), if I’m being honest. Moral of the story, this is just the beginning.

Thanks for reading this diary-like post. lol

P.S. 3 things my first semester of law school taught me

  1. People lie about almost everything.
  2. Don’t feel guilty if you take a day off. Especially if you haven’t had a free moment in over a week.
  3. Fake it ’til you make it. Everything will eventually make sense.

PPS. Obviously I’m not graduating anytime soon, but Elle Woods law school GIF seemed appropriate.

  1. You hit the nail right on the head. Law school has a fantastic ability to make even the smartest person feel like a complete moron. Just hang in there and keep up the good work!
